Having been a dog owner for several years I have found the following books extremely useful: The Kennel Club provides extensive information for pet owners/lovers and breeders alike. I recommend you start with the Kennel Club to find out as much as possible about your chosen breed. The first of the above books is a good general reference guide to owning and caring for a dog. In my recent efforts to breed Bichon Frisé the following books have proved themselves to be invaluable resources. The first of these was recommended by a member of the Southern Breeders Association - Bichon Frisé: If you are considering breeding you would be well advised to contact local Breed Associations and Breeders for advice. Most importantly talk to your Veterinary Surgeon. Your vet knows you and your dog and is in the best position to offer sound advice for you and your dog. Your dog’s health and well being are the most important consideration when breeding. |
